Investigation On Occupational Health Surveillance Of Migrant Workers In Hangzhou City

ObjectiveThe aims of present study were to investigate the present situation of occupational health surveillance of migrant workers in industrial enterprises of different economic types in Hangzhou city, to analyze the problems existing in occupational health surveillance of migrant workers in our city, to explore the new attempts as well as the suggestion on the following works in the occupational health surveillance in our city, and to provide the policy basis in public health management of migrant workers for the government and related departments.ContentsThe present situation of occupational exposure hazards, health damage, occupational health surveillance and social security of migrant workers in our city were investigated. The rates of occupational health surveillance in different type of industrial enterprises were analyzed. The network and the situation of occupational health inspection of occupational health service institutions were investigated. The main features of occupational health surveillance of migrant workers in our city were described.We take the migrant workers as priority health surveillance targets, and analyze the main problems existing in occupational health surveillance mode, the focus of contradictions that leads to the low rate of occupational health surveillance, and how to resolve these contradictions and problems. MethodsWe chose 109 enterprises which the migrant workers concentrated and occupational hazards are more serious in 10 districts subordinated Hangzhou city, 1010 migrant workers , 9 medical institutions which have obtained the occupational health inspection qualification. According to the questionnaire designed by Peking University School of Public Health and Beijing Research Center of Preventive Medicine, the specialists conducted the questionnaire survey to the investigation objects and the statistical analysis to the investigation datas. Results and ConclusionsCurrently, the proportion of migrant workers and occupational exposure hazards is high, while the rate of occupational health surveillance and the degree of social security are low in industrial enterprises, especially in the non-public economic enterprises in Hangzhou city. In view of the present situation of occupational health surveillance of migrant workers in different type of economic industrial enterprises and depending on the existing occupational health surveillance of the regional social environment, the government and related departments have made some new attempts in occupational health surveillance. Such as we have taken the occupational hazard-prone enterprises as the key points in whole city scope, and have launched a special action intently "protection of the workers' healthy rights and occupational diseases prevention and control million enterprises lines"; and have opened occupational health service market and strengthened the institutional capacity-building of occupational health inspection; and have direct network reported for occupational health surveillance, practised the information management and so on. But we must conduct the more thorough investigations and studies, especially in occupational health surveillance of the migrant workers.
