Objective This study is aiming to investigate the characteristic of Spleen-Qi Deficiency syndrome in women with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS),as well as the feature of endocrine and metabolic laboratory findings in them. Methods 108 patients of PCOS were involved,in which 69 who comply with the diagnostic criteria of Spleen-Qi Deficiency syndrome was SD group,39 patients of other syndromes was NSD group, and 20 healthy controls with same age.Compare the variance of serum levels of luteinizing hormone(LH),follicle stimulating hormone(FSH),estradiol(E2),total testosterone(T),free testosterone(FT) calculate by Vermeulen formula, sex hormone binding globulin(SHBG),fasting blood-glucose (FBG),postprandial blood glucose(PBG),insulin(INS),Total Cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG),high density lipoprotein(HDL),low density lipoprotein(LDL), leptin levels among the three groups.Measure the body mass index(BMI), waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),Summarizing the frequency of occurrences of each syndrome in Spleen-Qi Deficiency.Compare the variance of endocrine and metabolic index among the simple Spleen-Qi Deficiency patients, the phlegm-damp combining patients, and the blood stasis combining patients.Compare the situation of pressure, fatigue, bad eating habits, and sleeping habits between cases and controls.Compare the change of endocrine and metabolic index as well as the syndrome in Spleen-Qi Deficiency in cases after 3 months treatment period. Results 1.Endocrine secretion and metabolism index in three groups:BMI and WHR levels were all higher in SD group than those in control(p<0.05~0.01).T, FT levels were higher in the SD group than those in control obviously(p<0.01),and SHBG level was lower than that in control,T,SHBG in SD group were a little lower than thosethe NSD group, and FT was a little higher than it.E2/T level in SD group was lower than that in control, and LH,LH/FSH levels were obvious higher than those in control(p<0.01).FBG,PBG,INS and Homa-IRI levels in SD group were higher than those in control(p<0.01),and also higher than those in NSD group.TC,TG,LDL,Leptin levels were all higher than those in control, and also a little higher than those in NSD group(p<0.05~0.01).2.Analysis of the characteristic of Spleen-Qi Deficiency syndrome in SD group:Among each symptoms of Spleen-Qi Deficiency, the most common are the hypodynamia(73.9%),borborygmus(65.2%), abdominal distension after meal(60.9%),diarrhea easily(55.1%),and salivate during sleeping(52.2%) in turn.3.Analysis of the possible relevant pathogenic factors of Spleen-Qi Deficiency syndrome of PCOS:By the method of Ridit analysis,Cases in SD group had more frequency of bad eating habits and more serious degree of unhealthy sleeping habits than control.4.Comparison of before ard after treatment of the SD group:BMI,WHR,T,FT,LH,LH/FSH,INS,Homa-IRI,Leptin levels declined after treatment by the methods of Invigorate the Spleen and Qi(p<0.05~0.01),and SHBG level was raise.FBG,PBG,TC and TG levels were lower after treatment than before treatment. After treatment period, each of the symptoms of Spleen-Qi Deficiency had alleviated. Conclusions 1.Spleen-Qi Deficiency syndrome takes an important part in PCOS. 2.Hypodynamia,borborygmus,and abdominal distension after meal are the most common symptoms in Spleen-Qi Deficiency PCOS.3.The abnormality of INS and Leptin levels may be act as one of the physical basis of Spleen-Qi Deficiency PCOS. 4.The treatment methods of Invigorate the Spleen and Qi could lead the remission of the symptoms of Spleen-Qi Deficiency in Women with PCOS effectively,as well as correct their disorders in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.
