This dissertation elaborated the studies on chemical constituents of two plants which belong to the family of Chloranthus, Chloranthus serratus and Chloranthus multistachys. From above two plants, a total of 20 compounds were isolated by the chromatographic methods (including TLC, PTLC, CC, Sephadex LH-20, ODS and HPLC) and spectroscopic methods (including UV, IR, MS and NMR). Among them, 8 compounds were elucidated to be new ones , including four new eudesmane sesquiterpenoid lactones and four new lindenane sesquiterpene dimers. And sesquiterpene dimmers and their activity were summarized in the dissertation.Compounds isolated from the genus of Chloranthus and other plants and main physiological functions of them are reviewed.Chloranthus serratus belongs to the family of Chloranthaceae. Its rhizome has used as a treatment for ulcer and piles in traditional medical practice. Some chemical studies have been conducted before. In order to further search bioactive compounds, we investigated chemical constituents of Chloranthus serratus. As a result, six new compounds (3, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15) along with ten known ones were isolated. These compounds were identified as follows, and their structures are illustrated in Fig. A. glechomanolid (1) neolitacumone B (2) serralactone A (3)*1β,4β-dihydroxy-5αH- eudesman-7(11)-en-8α,12-olide (4) zedoalactone A (5) oplodiol 2a (6) cyperusol C (7) serralactone B (8)* serralactone C (9)* serralactone D (10)*3-eudesmene-1β,7,11-triol (11)4(15)-eudesmene-1β,7,11-triol (12) shizukaol B (13) shizukaol P (14)* shizukaol Q (15)* tianmushanol (16)。Chloranthus multistachys belongs to the family of Chloranthaceae. Its roots were applied to treat bone fracture in China as folklore medicine. Some chemical studies have been conducted before. In order to further search bioactive compounds, we investigated chemical constituents of Chloranthus multistachys. As a result, two new compounds (3, 4) along with two known ones were isolated. These compounds were identified as follows, and their structures are illustrated in Fig. B. shizukaol C (1) shizukaol D (2) chloramultilide E (3)* chloramultilide F (4)*。...
