Expression Of NeuN Of Facial Nucleus After Facial Nerve Axotomy In Rat

OBJECTIVE: Expression of NeuN after facial nerve anatomose in rat.METHODS: At day 1, 3, 8, 14 and 30 after facial nerve anastomose, the recovery process of facial movement was observed,Nissl stains and the expression of neurons nuclei antigen﹝NeuN﹞was detected by immunohistochemistry technology, immunofluorescent histochemical staining method and western-blot.RESULTS: The function of facial muscle was improving gradually after facial nerve anastomosed, but couldn't reach the normal state, and often accompanied with synkinesis. The rats were sacrificed at 1, 3, 8, 14, and 30 days later. This decrease of NeuN began as soon as 1 day after axotomy, and the minimum was 8 th post-lesion; the protein level was as the same as normal at day post-lesion 30 and proved by western-blot.CONCLUSION: Expression of NeuN was changed and it could be receive normal but there were lots of facial nucleus survival after facial nerve atomosed. So after facial nerve axotomy we think that NeuN can not identify populations of neurons, but only can be respect of the activity of facial neurons.which was decreased but no facial nucleu died.
