Clinical Effect Of YiShenJiangZhuo Granule On Patients With Chronic Renal Failure And Effect On Urinary Connective Tissue Growth Factor

Objectives: To observe the clinical effect of YiShenJiangZhuo granule on patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) and the change of level of urinary connective tissue growth factor(CTGF); Further more, to explore some of the TCM etiology and pathogenesis about renal fibrosis, and to find a good way of TCM treatment to alleviate the progression of renal fibrosis.Materials and Methods: According to the diagnostic criterion of CRF formulated by the Kidney group of Chinese Journal of Internal medicine in 1993, 60 patients with CRF (serum creatinine from 134umol/L to 442umol/L) and Qi deficiency of spleen and kidney were divided into treatment group and control group at random, treatment group was 30 cases and control group too, Patients of treatment group took the YiShenJiangZhuo granule One packet each, 3 times a day, and with modern medicine conventional therapy; Patients of control group took the modern medicine only. Two groups all took 2 months as 1 course of treatment. The changes of their renal function, urinary CTGF and clinical symptoms have been observed. 30 healthy people were taken as the normal group. Make dependablity analysis with CTGF and serum creatinine of patients with CRF.Results: The therapeutic efficacy of treatment group was much better than that of control group (p<0.05). The urinary CTGF level was significantly increased in patients with CRF compared with the normal group (p<0.01). The urinary CTGF level of patients with CRF is positively correlated to the level of serum creatinine (r=0.421, p<0.01) .The urinary CTGF level of treatment group and control group have been both significantly degraded after treatment, and the renal function have been both significantly improved (treatment group p<0.01, control group p<0.05), but the efficacy of treatment group was much better than that of control group(p<0.05).Conclusion: (1) The urinary CTGF level in patients with CRF is higher than normal group. (2) The therapeutic effect of YiShenJiangZhuo granule combined with modern medicine conventional therapy is much better than that of modern medicine conventional therapy. (3) The therapeutic effect of YiShenJiangZhou granule combined with modern medicine conventional therapy shows it can control high urinary CTGF level better than that of the control group.(4) YiShenJiangZhuo granule can degrade urinary CTGF level, possibly can delay the progression of renal fibrosis and improve patients' prognosis.(5) The treatment of strengthening spleen, tonifying kidney, discharging turbidity and dispelling stasis, may improve renal function, lighten clinical symptoms, delay the progression of renal fibrosis, and delay the development of CRF with Qi deficiency of spleen and kidney.
