Relationship Between PCNA And P16 Protein And The Radiosensitivity Together With Prognosis Of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Objective Preliminary to investigate the relationship between the expression of PCNA and P16 protein and the radiosensitivity together with prognosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Methods HE staining:Histopathological diagnosis was made and mitotic index was counted under microscopy.The expression of PCNA and P16 Protein was detected by immunohistochemical met-hod in Sixty-three biopsy specimens before irradiation.Results The expression rates of PCNA and P16 protein were 92.06%(58/63)and 23.81%(15/63) respectively.The high expression rates of PCNA and P16 protein were 34.92%(22/63) and 11.11%(7/63) respectively.The higher the positive expression of PCNA and P 16 protein was,the higher the radiosensitivity of NPC was and the better the curative effect was(P＜0.05).Furthermore the radiosensitivity of NPC was higher in the cases with high expression of both PCNA and P16 protein than in the cases with the high expression of either PCNA or P16 protein.The positive expression rates of PCNA were significance to the clinical stage(P＜0.05) but of insignificance to the prognosis(P＞0.05) of NPC;the positive expression rates of P16 protein were both significance to the clinical stage(P＜0.05) and prognosis of NPC(P＜0.05).Conclusion PCNA and P16 protein were the important indicators for the radiosensitivity of NPC and the effect of radiotherapy.The positive expression rates of PCNA and P16 protein were significance to the clinical stage of NPC;the positive expression rates of P16 protein was significance to prognosis of NPC;and it might be one of the indicator for prognosis of NPC.
