Objectives:To analysis the condition of the hospital infection in a hospital of Hunan province,TOPSIS,rank sum ratio(RSR) and synthetic index method were synthetically used to evaluate the surveillance of the nosocomial infection in this hospital, and to compare the rank results among these comprehensive methods and to optimize the method on the evaluation of the hospital infection. Methods:The data came from the surveillance of hospital infection of a hospital in Hunan Province from 2004 to 2007.After checking the data, the database was founded by the Excel program and a new program was edited to performance the TOPSIS method,RSR method, and synthetic index method to analysis the surveillance of the hospital infection from 2004 to 2007 and among various section offices. At last, using SPSS 15.0 statistical software,Spearman correlation was conducted to analysis the consistence of the ranked results among three kinds of comprehensive evaluation methods and to compare the differences in ranked results among such methods. The statistical test level was set up at a=0.05.Results:The hospital is a comprehensive teaching hospital. The results of dynamic series analysis showed that the average increasing rate of the nosocomial infection rate in this hospital was 18.9%and the average increasing rate of nosocomial infection non-report rate was minus 16.2%and the eligibility rate the surveillance of hospital infection was increased year by year from 2004 to 2007.The results from TOPSIS,RSR and synthetic index method analysis showed that the year ranked the top quality of the surveillance of hospital infection was the year of 2007,and lost list was the year of 2004 based on the year from 2004 to 2007.In all the wards, the best ward of the surveillance of hospital infection was ENT and the worst one was hepatobiliary surgery ward. With the conjunction analysis of the multiple comprehensive evaluation methods, the top three clinical sections ranked the surveillance of hospital infection were the department of ENT,stomatology and eye,and the sections listed the bottom three positions were the department of hepatobiliary surgery, empyrosis, and neuro-surgery.In the analyses of the correlation of rank results with different methods, the TOPSIS method was consistence with synthetic index method with the correlation coefficient from 0.993 to 1.000(P=0.000),followed by the correlation between TOPSIS method and RSR method with the correlation coefficient 0.850(P=0.000),and the correlation between TOPSIS method and synthetic index method with the correlation coefficient 0.850(P=0.000)Conclusions:1.The nosocomial infection rate and the false report rate of the hospital infection were lower than the national control standard level of the relevant rate of the hospital infection in the study hospital from 2004 to 2007.2.Based on the omprehensive evaluating results of the surveillance of hospital infection in 2006,the level of the hospital infection in the department of hepatobiliary surgery, empyrosis, and neuro-surgery were moderate high, and the effectual measures should be taken to strengthen the management of the surveillance of hospital infection.3.The ranked results among TOPSIS method,RSR method, and synthetic index method were highly correlation, and TOPSIS method with the feature of simple calculation can be helpful use in the evaluation of the surveillance of hospital infection.4.By the conjunction of comprehensive evaluation with multiple methods, the rank results will be more scientific and more practical for the evaluation of the surveillance of hospital infection, and conjunction methods can be recommended to the evaluation of the surveillance of hospital infection.
