Wound dressing is used to protect the wound, absorb exudation, reduce infection, promote wound healing and reducing scar in process of wound healing. How to accelerate wound repair without scar has been explored tirelessly as a cosmopolitan pharmacy and clinical medicine problem. Stem cells are key players in wound healing processes, because of its multilineage differentiation potential and self-renewal ability. Numerous studies have indicated that stem cells may contribute to tissue repair or regeneration of many tissues. How to speed up and regulate the proliferation and differentiation of these stem cells is the key to accelerate tissue repair and good remodeling. Panax notoginosides can promote the proliferation and differentiation of some stem cells. Chitosan as an ideal material for wound dressing will give Panax notoginosides a better place for promoting the proliferation and differentiation of stem cells, which will facilitate wound healing and skin regeneration.In this research, chitosan, hyaluronic acid and Panax notoginosides were developed as a new type of functional wound dressing. The quantitative analysis of the wound dressing was established by HPLC and UV. These two methods, which were simple, rapid and accurate, could be used to the quality control of notoginsenoside, amino acids and chitosan in the dressing. The effects of accelerating wound repair without pathological scar had been evaluated for topical treatment with the functional wound dressing in a rabbit model of skin wound. And its effects of inhibite scar and promotion of skin appendages were characterized by modern methods of molecular biology. The results showed that mesh fibrous hydrogel of wound dressing formed quickly when encountered exudation. All the results indicated the potential application of it as a wound dressing material. Ease of handling, hemostasis fast, biodegradability, ease of formulation, reduces the tissue fluid leakage and inflammation, promotes and regulates stem cell proliferation and differentiation, provides a suitable place for regeneration, indicating a good synergy in accelerating wound healing without pathological scar. Thus, it basically meets the requirements of an ideal functional wound dressing, better than the other commercial functional wound dressings.
