ObjectiveTo investigate the expression of DOG1 protein in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) and the relationship between them.MethodsDOG1 expression were analyzed by immunohistochemical method in 77 cases of GIST.The cases of leiomyosarcomas and schwannomas were as controls.ResultsOf 77 GIST,74(96.1%) cases had positive expression of DOG1, and DOG1 expression was not related to the risk stratification of the tumor, site, or the age and sex of the patient, (P>0.05). The expression rate of DOG1 in leiomyosarcomas and schwannomas was 50.0%(2/4),66.7%(2/3)respectively.ConclusionsAs a novel marker for GIST, DOG1 shows the same high sensitivity with CD117, combine DOG1 with CD117 has good complementarity for the diagnosis of GIST, and DOG1 has more advantage in the GIST of CD117 negative. But DOG1 can not be used as an index to assess the risk stratification of the GIST, and further study should be develope for the specificity of DOG1-to-GIST.
