Observations Of The Clinical Efficacy Of Treating Simple Obesity With Electro-acupuncture And Ear Pressure Therapy

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of treating simple obesity with electro-acupuncture and ear pressure therapy and to discuss initially its mechanism so as to prove the validity,security and propagability of electro-acupunture and ear pressure therapy.Method:All qualified patients were selected from Hantang Chinese Medical clinic in Taiwan according to the diagnodtic criteria is based on the Internatonal Chinese Workgroup On Obesity in 2001.60 cases were divided into two group randomly,and there were 30 cases in treatment group,30 cases in control group. The treatment group used electro-acupuncture and ear pressure therapy, the main electro acupoints included:Qihai,Tianshu,Zhongwa,shuidao,Yinlingqua,Fenglong. Acuricular acupoints included:Wei,Neifenmi,Sanjiao,Pi.The control group used electro-acupuncture. For both groups, the same acupoints were chosen and the treatment frequency was three times a week, once two days, four weeks is a procedure, treatment continued two procedures. To observe the body weight, body mass index, waist and hip line, waist hip rate after the course of treatment.Result:After the treating courses, in treatment group, there were 8-case cured,13-case significantly improved,6-case in effect,3-case non-effective among the 30 cases,and the total effective rate was 90.0%. In control group, there were 4-case cured,11-case significantly improved,6-case in effect,9-case non-effective among the 30 cases, and the total effective rate was 70%. There were significant difference between the two group(P<0.05)Those obesity index such as weight, body mass index, waist and hip line decreased significantly after the course of treatment, but the treatment group better than the control group at weight ande the waist. The waist hip rate did not change before and after the study.The syndrome treatment with the same degree, too.Conclusion:Electro-acupuncture and ear pressure therapy posses definite curative effect in the treatment of simple obesity,and it is a sort of effective, immediate and propagable method.
