Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai is recorded from Shennong's Herbal, a green perennial herb, bitter in taste, cold, slightly poisonous, has many efficacies such as Deworming, stop bleeding, heat-clearing and detoxification. Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai is a plant in Dryopterideceae of Dryopteris Adanson. Modern medical have shown that the rhizomes of Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai, which has many effects such as inhibit fungi, anti-tumor and anti-virus. In recent years, Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai has been paid close attention because of its capability to prevent and cure viral disease.Based on relative studies in recent years, this paper reviews history development, biological characteristics, resource distribution, chemical constituents, pharmacological activities, clinical application of Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai. A summary on the research progress in chemical constituents, pharmacological activities of Dryopteris plants.Under the guidance of pharmacological activity experiment,we study on the anti-infective chemical constituents of Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai. Mixed Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai ethanol extract with diatomite and put it into a chromatography column, eluted the chromatography column with n-hexane, chloroform, acetone and ethanol to give four fractions respectively, and carried out activity tests on the four fractions. The four fractions of Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai 90%ethanol extracts possessed antimicrobial activitiy. Gram-positive bacteria were more sensitive than Gram-negative bacteria and fungi. The n-hexane fraction showed better anti-Gram-positive bacterial activity.In order to develop a new veterinary medicine with good antibacterial activity, we studyed on the chemical composition of n-hexane fraction, isolated four phloroglucinol derivatives from n-hexane fraction:flavaspidic acid AB, albaspidin AA, filixic acid ABA and dryocrassin ABBA, carried out activity tests on the four compounds screened for activity and found that flavaspidic acid AB have better anti-bacterial and anti-tumor activity, there are good research and development prospects for a new drug. Consisting with literatures and reports, phloroglucinol derivatives are the effective component of Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai. for more in-depth study of such compounds, we study on such chemical constituents.12 compounds were isolated from Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai, and their chemical structures were identified by spectroscopic analysis including 1HNMR,13CNMR, ESI-MS as well as classical chemical methods. Those compounds are 2-[(2'R)-hydroxy-Heneicosanoyl]-(3R,4S)-dihydroxy-(2S,3R,4S)-Octadecane triol(GZ1), albaspidin AA(GZ2),flavaspidic acid AB(GZ3), filixic acid ABA(GZ4), p-sitosterol(GZ5), daidzein(GZ6), dryocrassin ABBA(GZ8), filixic acid ABB(GZ9), filixic acid ABP(GZ10),3-hydroxy-heptaeosano (GZ13), penta-albaspidin ABBBA(GZ14), pentacosanol (GZ15). GZ14 is a new compound, GZ1 and GZ6 are first islated from Dryopteris.
