Objective:By analyzing the polysomnography (PSG) result and clinical characteristics of the Mongolia patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAHS), it is informative to explore the risk factor and preventive measures of the Mongolian OSAHS incidence. Methods:Through retrospective study analyze, we have summarized 133 patients who were diagnosed with OSAHS, including the Mongolia People(63 cases) and the Han People(70 cases), in the Sleep Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Hospital Afflicted Chi Feng in Mongolia. To analyze patients'clinical characteristic (such as clinical symptom, neck circumference, body mass index, head and facial abnormalities, clinical symptoms as well as complications) and PSG result, then to describe occurrence of the Mongolian OSAHS patients associated with mentioned factors. Results:Compared with the Han, age of OSAHS'onset in the Mongolian patients was significantly earlier (P<0.05), major head and facial abnormalities such as short neck, mandible significantly increased (P<0.05), while other clinical symptoms, craniofacial structures and complications were no significantly variant. According to the PSG monitoring results, it is statistically different in the disease severity distribution (P<0.05), showing mainly severe cases in Mongolian people and moderate ones in Han people. Additionally, in the Mongolian OSAHS cases, comparing the AHI which indicates the severity with neck circumference, body mass index, sleepiness score, the longest apnea time (LAT), the average pause time (MAT), apnea index (AI), lowest oxygen saturation (LSaO2) as well as mean oxygen saturation (MSaO2), the results showed positive correlation among AHI and neck circumference, BMI, sleepiness scores, LAT, MAT and AI, along with negative correlation among AHI and LSaO2, MSaO2.Conclusions:Compared with the Han, the incidence age of Mongolia OSAHS patients is in advance, the facial deformity such as short and small jaw occurs generally, and severe cases increase. Moreover, bulky neck circumference and increasing body mass index are the high risk factor in Mongols OSAHS cases, which maybe relate to their life style, and the disease severity is closely connected with neck circumference, body mass index (BMI), sleepiness scores, LAT, MAT, AI, LSaO2 and MSaO2.In short, as OSAHS is a potentially dangerous diseases needed more attention, changing live habit, early detection and suitable treatment can prevent OSAHS and various complications...
