Objective:To investigate the expression and distribution ofβ-catenin,p120ctn,survivin and in breast carcinoma and optimum breast tissue. Then to analyze the relationship between the four proteins and the clinical and pathological features, and to explore the value of them in the breast carcinoma. Methods:Immunohistochemistry two steps was used to detect the expression ofβ-catenin, p120ctn,survivin and ERβin fifty breast cancer samples and fifteen optimum breast tissue. Then to do a statistical analysis between the expression of them and patients'age, the size of tumor, pathological grade, stagingand lymph node metastasis status. And to do statistical analysis about the correlation between the expression of P-catenin and p120ctn,P-catenin and survivin,β-catenin and ERβrespectively.Results:1.In the fifteen cases of optimum breast tissue, both ofβ-catenin and p120ctn have one case abnormal expression, only two cases were positive about the expression of survivin, the positive expression of ERP was 12 cases.2.The abnormal expression ratios ofβ-catenin and p120ctn were 72% and 68% respectively. The abnormal expression of them were both interrelated with pathological grade and lymph node metastasis status(P<0.05).The positive expression rates of survivin and ERβwere 74% and 44% respectively, while the expression of survivin was significantly related to pathological grade (P<0.05).The expression of ERP had a negtive correlation with the age of patients, the size of tumor and pathological grade(P<0.05).3.The expression ofβ-catenin,p120ctn and survivin in breast carcinoma were significantly higher than those in optimum breast tissue, but the expression of ERβin breast carcinoma less than optimum breast tissue(P<0.05).4.The abnormal expression ofβ-catenin and p120ctn have a significant positive correlation(r= 0.319);The abnormal expression ofβ-catenin was increased with the increased intensity of survivin (r=0.543);Though the abnormal expression ofβ-catenin increased with the reduction intensity of ERβ,the difference was no significant in Statistically.Conclusions:1.The expression ofβ-catenin and p120ctn was apparent abnormal in breast cancer, the expression of survivin was increased and the expression of ERβwas decreased, the expression of them maybe play an important role in the pathogenesis and development of breast cancer. 2.The expression of (3-catenin,p120ctn,survivin and ERβhave a closely relationship with some clinical and pathological features of breast cancer, the expression of them may be useful indicators to monitor the degree of malignancy of breast cancer.3.The expression ofβ-catenin and p120ctn and the positive expression of survivin may play an collaborative role in the development of breast cancer. The protein ERβmay work together to promote the malignant transformation of breast tissue with the three. They may have some clinical value to accurately predict the biological behavior of breast cancer and make the individualized treatment programs for the patients.
