Study Of Acupuncture Reinforcing-reducing Practices Of The Ming Dynasty Physicians

ObjectiveThis paper organizes and studies the content about acupuncture reinforcing-reducing practices in the writings of Ming Dynasty physicians comprehensively basing on describing the politics, economy, culture and Taoist background of the Ming Dynasty. Through describing, comparing and analysing the acupuncture reinforcing-reducing methods of the Ming Dynasty physicians, this paper summarizes the main technical points and deeply excavates the merits of the needle method of the ancient doctors, aiming at improving the ancient acupuncture reinforcing-reducing methods and using them in the modern times. This paper, with detailed references, aims at promoting the standardized research of the acupuncture reinforcing-reducing methods as well.MethodCollect the representative writings of Ming Dynasty physicians and study them. The writings are Encyclopedia of acupuncture by Feng Xu, ask for acupuncture by Ji Wang, acupuncture Dacheng by Jizhou Yang, Introduction to Medicine by Chun Li and so on. Enumerate different kinds of acupuncture reinforcing-reducing methods described by these writers, which are either simplex or double-entry. The simplex acupuncture reinforcing-reducing methods include Xujibuxie,Huxibuxie,Yingsuibuxie,Tichabuxie,Nianzhuanbuxie,Pingbupingxie, and the double-entry acupuncture reinforcing-reducing methods include Shaoshanhuo,Toutianliang,Qinglongbaiwei,Baihuyaotou,Cangguitanxue,Chifengyingyan,Longhujiaozhan,Ziwudaojiu,Longhushengjiang,Yunqifa,iuqifa. This paper further summarizes and remark on these methods objectively. The politics, economy and culture of the Ming Dynasty are described as well. ResultThrough describing the social and Taoist background of the Ming Dynasty, the conclusion is obtained that the prosperous development of acupuncture medicine and reinforcing-reducing methods in the Ming Dynasty is because that dynasty values acupuncture and Taoist culture. Through organizing, comparing and analysing the representative acupuncture reinforcing-reducing methods of the Ming Dynasty physicians, further refinement and summarization of their essence are obtained, which is beneficial to the exploration of the rules of the Ming Dynasty physicians acupuncture treatment and the formation of the Ming Dynasty medicine acupuncture system supported by cultural and academic theories. The traits of the Ming Dynasty physicians acupuncture treatment are obtained as well.ConclusionThere are always differences among the ancient records and descriptions about acupuncture reinforcing-reducing methods, especially for the Ming Dynasty physicians whose opinions are cited extensively. In clinical practice, the most appropriate method should be adopted basing on the actual circumstance to obtain a good therapeutic effect. In the process of inheriting the ancient acupuncture tradition, we should organize and study different kinds of acupuncture reinforcing-reducing methods comprehensively to obtain the essence of ancient physicians'acupuncture, and combine them with clinical practice to better guide and service the modern clinical practice of acupuncture.
