Acupuncture is one of the most important methods dealing withthe disease in traditional Chinese medicine and pharmacy.Strengthening the body resistance to eliminate the pathogenicfactors is the basic principle of treatment. Great compendium ofacupuncture and moxibustion summarized the knowledge of acupunctureand moxibustion before Ming Dynasty. Yang Jizhou, the author of Greatcompendium of acupuncture and moxibustion, inherited his family'sknowledge on acupuncture and moxibustion, and followed the ideologyof Huangdi's Classic on Medicine. His viewpoint greatly influencedscholars later. Especially on manipulation of acupuncture skill,Yang Jizhou founded serials of methods, such as "Eight methods","Twelve orderly methods".This article mainly studies manipulation of acupuncture skillin Great compendium of acupuncture and moxibustion, and analyses YangJizhou's manipulation of acupuncture skill, By means of studyingthese, this article also summarizes Yang Jizhou's ideology onReinforcing and Reducing manipulations of Acupuncture and itsspecial feature."Twelve orderly methods" is the normal manipulation ofAcupuncture which includes inserting needle, manipulating needle,retaining needle, and withdrawing needle. Although it is explainedby simple words, it can be known easily by learners. "Eight methods"wholly generalizes the process of Acupuncture which includes themanipulation from research the Acu-point to withdraw the needle. Thebasic manipulation of acupuncture skill sorted out by Yang Jizhou,is simple to manipulate. It greatly influenced the later medicallearner. "Twelve orderly methods" and "Eight methods" are same asHuangdi's Classic on Medicine and Classic on Medical Problems inideology, but they are easier to be admitted by clinic treatment thanthe latter."Twenty-four multi-method", which is put forward by Yangjizhou,is the most complete method on Reinforcing and Reducing manipulationsof Acupuncture so far. Yang Jizhou developed the theory ofReinforcing and Reducing methods of Acupuncture. He advocated thedifference of Reinforcing and Reducing manipulations of Acupuncture. He thought that reinforcing and reducing in acupuncture therapyshould contain strong reinforcing and reducing, equally tonifyingand dispersing manipulation. He pointed out the difference of"Ying-Wei". He also emphasized arrival of qi and activating qi.
