Objective:Coronary artery disease (CAD) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in many countries over the world despite the efforts to prevent it.The disease is multifactorial, being determined by many risk factors such as age, gender, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, smoking, obesity and so on.However, the risk of CAD is not uniform among different populations. ethnic differences as well as socioeconomic, environmental and genetic factors play a determining role in the development of cardiovascular diseases. In the present study, our aim was to examine the prevalence of several CAD risk factors in a group of Chinese patients and to evaluate their role as predictors of the disease, the relationship between the characteristics of the coronary artery stenosis and CAD risk factors. Methods:A total of 9847 consecutive patients who had been diagnosed as coronary heart disease (CAD)or without CAD by coronary angiography (2000-2007)from 20 Chinese cardiology centers were studied retrospect-tively.Any major branch of Coronary artery stenosis≥50% enrolled in coronary artery disease (CAD)group. No stenosis or stenosis<50% in control (Non-CAD) group. The difference between the risk factors and both groups, and the characteristic of coronary artery lesions which expressed by severity of coronary artery,Gensini cumulative scores, branch number of stenosis coronary artery, were analyzed. Results:1.Age,male,systolic blood pressure (SBP),smoking, drinking,angi-na,hypertension(HT),diabetes mellitus(DM),dyslipidemia, family disease history(FDH),cerebrovascular disease(CVD),hemoglobin(HGB),fasting plasma glucose(FPG),Creatinine(CR),total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride (TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) were significantly higher in CAD group than those in Non-CAD patients(p<0.05).Heart rates, total bilirubin(TBIL),direct bilirubin (DBIL),were significantly lower in CAD group than those in Non-CAD patients(p<0.05).However, there were no difference in body mass index (BMI),diastolic blood pressure (DBP),CAD history, overweight, and obesity between both groups(p>0.05).2.There are correlations between Gensini cumulative scores and gender, age,DBP,smoking,FDH,HT,angina, arrhythmia, heart failure (HF),DM, TBIL,CR,TC,HDL-C,LDL-C,FPG.Multivariate Linear Regression analysis showed that Gensini cumulative scores=-41.410+10.021×male+0.665×age-0.089×DBP+3.413×smoking+4.130×FDH+4.486×HT+8.305×angina-5.917×arrhythmia+5.971×HF+6.162×DM-0.280×TBIL+0.078×CR+1.219×TC-4.39 7×HDL-C+2.652×LDL+0.952×FPG.3. There are correlations between branch number of stenosis coronary artery(BN)and gender, age,SBP,DBP,smoking,FDH,HT,dyslipidemia, angina, arrhythmia,DM,CVD,TBIL,DBIL,CR,LDL-C,and FPG.Multivariate Linear Regression analysis showed that in the whole populationBN=-1.467+0.354×Male+0.029×age+0.003×SBP-0.004×DBP+ 0.192×smoking+0.157×FDH+0.192×HT+0.136×dyslipidemia+0.227×Angin a-0.191×arrhythmia+0.330×DM+0.156×CVD-0.009×TBIL-0.015×DBIL-0.0 02×CR+0.123×LDL-C+0.031×FPG.Conclusions:The dependent risk factors for CAD were age,smok-ing,HT,dyslipidemia,DM,CR.However,the dependent protector factors were heart rates, and TBIL...
