Objective:To study expressions of p21ras and p21WAF1/CIP1 in invasive and non-invasive pituitary adenomas and their relevance and discuss their clinical significance. Methods:The use of HE staining was to observe the organization, structure and arrangement of pituitary adenoma cells, the expression of p21ras and p21WAF1/CIP1 were evaluated by immunohistochemical methods in 28 cases of invasive pituitary tumor and 15 cases of non-invasive tumor tissue, make a comprehensive analysis combined with the clinical and pathological classification. Results:â‘ Pathological features of HE staining between invasive and non-invasive pituitary adenomas are not easy to distinguish under the light micro-scope, which shows the cell heteromorphism, large nuclear, nucleoli evident, the significant proliferation of mesenchymal cell and the hyperplasia of the capillary.â‘¡The expression of p21ras between invasive pituitary tumor and non-invasive pituitary tumor is no significantly different; the expression of p21WAF1/ CIP1 between the two is significantly different, and the difference is statistically significant (p <0.05).â‘¢)The expression of p21ras in pituitary tumor is significantly different between at all levels (p<0.05), but there is no significant change with the increase in aggressive tendency. The expression of p21WAF1/CIP1decreases with the increase in invasive, and the difference between the various levels is statistically significant (p<0.05).â‘£The expression of p21ras and p21WAF1/ CIP1 has no significant correlation (R= 0.199, p> 0.05).Conclusions:The expression of p21WAF1/CIP1 may act as a adjuvant indicator in the grade of invasion and prognosis of pituitary tumor, and the guiding role of p21ras is depending further study.
