Objective:To determine the expression of pro-apoptotic protein bid and cell death in acute spinal cord injury, so as to elucidate the possible mechanism of bid in acute spinal cord injured rats.Methods:Sixty four SD rats were used for the experiment.They were divided 8 groups at random. The rat model of ASCI was established with a modified Allen's method.animals were sacrificed at 3h,8h, 1d,3d respectively after injury. The neurofunction of spinal cord was evaluated by modified Tarlov score.Cell apoptosis was examined using the TUNEL assay and the expression of pro-apoptotic protein bid were detected using immunohistochemistry method.The expression of pro-apoptotic protein bid and aptoposis was measured by use of IPP (Image-Pro Plus 6.0) with IOD(integratedopticaldensity) and density (mean).Results:The Tarlov scores of group test and group sham were 2.39±0.53 and 4.69±0.84.After SCI,the neurofunction of the group test was significantly better(P<0.01)than group sham.The expression of pro-apoptotic protein bid cells was higher in the test group than in the sham group at 3h,8h, 1d,3d respectively after injury, and peaked at 8h, They decreased at 1d.Apoptotic cells were noted in rats after SCI,and peaked at 8h after SCI,The apoptosis cells increased at 3h and got to the peak at 8h decreased at 1d.The expression of pro-apoptotic protein bid was related with the aptoposis and the coefficient correlation(Preason's) is 0.736.Conclusion:ASCI could indue the expression of pro-apoptotic proteins bid, and this was related to the aptoposis of neurocyte...
