Objective To study the expression of DPC4 (deleted in pancreatic carcinoma locus 4, DPC4)gene in non-samall cell lung cancer as well as its relationship with Bcl-2 and VEGF.Methods The expression of DPC4, Bcl-2 and VEGF was detected in 65 cases primary lung cancer and 18 adjacent normal lung tissues by immunohistochemical SP methods. Results The positive rate of DPC4 in adjacent normal lung tissues (77.8%,14/18) was much higher than that in tumor tissues (50.8%,33/65) (P< 0.05). The positive expression of DPC4 had no correlation with sex, age and pathological type (P>0.05), but it was closely associated with stage, grade and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). In 65 cases primary lung cancer, the relationship between DPC4 and Bcl-2, and between DPC4 and VEGF showed apparently negative correlation (P<0.05).Conclusion DPC4 gene deletion may be associated with malignant progression of lung cancer such as stage and grade and lymph node metastasis. It may inhibit lung cancer cell apoptosis and increases the expression of VEGF to promote angiogenesis.
