Objective: To study and explore the neuroprotective effects and the further mechanism of Panax quinquefolius saponin (PQS) on cerebral ischemia in rats.Methods: In order to observe the neuroprotective effect of (PQS) on cerebral ischemia, the rats with incomplete cerebral ischemia were induced with fishing lines in the middle cerebral artery (MCAO) and then were executed at 24h, after cerebral ischemia. It was observed the effect of PQS on the changes of ethology and pathomorphology due to nerve injury of rats with MCAO before and after treatments. HE staining was used to observe the changes of histomorphology. Electronic microscopy was used to study the ultrastructure of areas. It was detected the effects of PQS on expression of BDNF and GDNF with ELISA method.Results: PQS can significantly improve symptoms of neurological behavior in rats and cerebral ischemia pathological changes organization to check the cerebral cortex of rat MCAO model of BDNF, GDNF expression.Conclusion: PQS can protect the role of brain tissue damage, improve cerebral ischemia in rats with a neuroprotective effect, which may be related to promote the factors expression of BDNF and GDNF in the brain.
