Clinical Observation Of Body Acupuncture Combined With Abdominal Acupuncture In Hemiparalysis After Cerebral Infarction

ObjectiveIn order to observe the curative effect of abdominal acupuncture and body acupuncture in hemiplegic patients who suffer from cerebral infarction, we compared the difference between the two group by the activities of daily living measuring scale (ADL), the neurological deficit scale scores (NDS) and Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), attempting to find an easy, effective way contributes to curing cerebral infarction.Methods1. Selection of medical cases:all of 60 patients was selected from the general medicine department, cardiovascular diseases department, craniocerebral diseases department and acupuncture department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM.60 patients who were diagnosed as cerebral infarction within a month, was randomly divided into two group, the treatment group(body acupuncture combined with abdominal acupuncture group)and the control group(body acupuncture only group). Each group contains 30 cases.2. Basic medical care:In order to decrease the risk of complication and curing the complication which had happened, Both patients of two groups must receive the basic therapy according to the Guidebook of China Cerebrovascular Disease, such as oxygen uptaking therapy, blood pressure and blood sugar controlling therapy, infection curing therapy, decreasing intracranial pressure therapy, platelet aggregation therapy and nutritional support if necessary.3.Treatment(1)Acupoint selection of the treatment group (body acupuncture combined with abdominal acupuncture group)Body acupuncture:Neiguan P6 (two side), Shuigou GV26 (or Yintang), Jiquan HT1, Jianyu LI15, Quchi LI11, Waiguan SJ5, Hegu L14, Weizhong BL40 Sanyinjiao SP6, Yanglingquan GB34, Zusanli ST36, Jiexi ST41 of abnormal side. Adjunct acupoints is decided by the symptoms.Abdominal acupuncture:Yinqiguiyuan point (including Zhongwan REN12, Xiawan REN10, Qihai REN6, Guanyuan REN4), Fusiguan point (including Huaroumen ST24, Wailing ST26), Tiaopiqi (Daheng SP15), Shangfengshi, Xiafengshi. The method of needling, the depth of needling, the angle of needling, manipulation of needling are specified.(2)Acupoint selection of the control group(body acupuncture only group):the same as body acupuncture.4. Course of treatment:Each group took therapy 15 times per course,6 times a week with a day break. Each course totally takes 17 days. The two group must receive basic medical care in this 17 days.5. Clinical effect evaluation:The efficiency of each group was evaluated by the following standard:(1)the neurological deficit scale scores (NDS); (2) Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA); (3) the activities of daily living measuring scale (ADL). RusultThe two groups on Ridit analysis is found that there is significant difference in the curative effect (P<0.05), and the the treatment group (body acupuncture combined with abdominal acupuncture group) has a prominent advantage over the control group (body acupuncture only group); In the evaluation standard of the neurological deficit scale scores (NDS), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and the activities of daily living measuring scale (ADL), both two group show a significant improvement by analysed with Paired-Samples T Test (P<0.05).Meanwhile, the Independent-Samples T Test shows that there is a significant difference between the two group, and the treatment group has a prominent effect over the control group (P<0.05)In summary, the body acupuncture combined with abdominal acupuncture therapy can significantly improve the score of neurological deficit scale, Fugl-Meyer Assessment and the activities of daily living measuring by comparing with the control group. Based on the above analysis, we came to the conclusion that the body acupuncture combined with abdominal acupuncture therapy has a remarkable clinic effect on hemiplegic paralysis after cerebral infarction.
