| ObjectiveTo assess the therapeutic effectiveness of Bo Shi Abdominal Acupuncture Treatment, with taking bed rest and taking Non-sterroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) by JOA score and VAS for the treatment of acute stage of Lumbar Disc Herniation (LDH),and to give a good choice of nonoperative treatment for patients with acute stage of LDH.MethodsAccording to the diagnosis criteria, a total of 70 patients with acute stage of LDH from out-patient department and in-patient department of XinHui hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Guangdong Province, from Febr,2009 to Apri,2011, were selected and randomly split into 2 groups:Bo Shi Abdominal Acupuncture treatment group(group I),10 mg dexamethasone and 125ml of 20% Mannitol i. v. dripping treatment group (group II). The 2 groups patients also taking bed rest and taking NSAIDs meanwhile. One courses of treatment which lasted for 5 days were undergone. Data were collected at prior-treatment-30 minutes post-treatment and 30 minutes post-treatment on 5th day. Therapeutic effectiveness were assessed by JOA score and VAS. Data was analysised by using the SPSS 14.0 software.Results1. Either of 2 groups'mean scores and beteen the 2 groups'of VAS at 30 minutes post-treatment shown obvious difference with which prior-treatment(p<0.01).2. The 2 groups'mean scores of JOA score and of VAS at 30 minutes post-treatment on 5th day shown obvious difference with which prior-treatment (p<0.01).3. There were no significant differences between the 2 groups on JOA score and VAS at 30 minutes post-treatment on 5th day(p>0.05). Conclusion1.The 2 groups both can improve Low Back's function and relive pain for patients with acute stage of LDH.2.Bo Shi Abdominal Acupuncture is more effective and quikly effect in reliving pain at 30 minutes post-treatment on lth day for patients with acute stage of LDH.3.The 2 groups shows similar effect at 30 minutes post-treatment on 5th days for patients with acute stage of LDH. |
