Objective:To explored the expression and clinical significance of HMGA2 in pituitary adenomas, and provided the theoretical basis for the diagnosis and treatment of PAs.Methods:Take 57patients with pituitary adenoma resection specimen,8 cases with the Contusion brain tissue specimen as comparison.1. Including 9 PRL,14 GH,7 ACTH,7 FSH/LH,3 TSH,7 PRL/GH and 10 NFPAs.2. including 9 macroadenoma,48 microadenoma; 3. including 21 invasive PAs and 36 non-invasive PAs. Tumor systematization was determined by endocrine function and assessment of preoperative magnetic resonance imaging and intraoperative inspection. The expression of HMGA2 in pituitary adenomas were detected by immunohis-tochemistry (SP).Statistical analysis of expression differences among them.Results:1.The positive expression rate of HMGA2 in Contusion brain tissue(n=8) and pituitary adnomas(n=57) was 0%,45.71% respectively. There was significant difference between two groups. (P<0.05) 2.The positive expression rate of HMGA2 in invasive PAs(n=21) and non-invasive PAs (n=36) was 66.67%,33.33% respectively. There was significant difference between two groups. (P<0.05) 3.The positive expression rate of HMGA2 in Pituitary microadenoma (n=9)and Pituitary macroadenoma (n=48) was 11.11%,52.08% respectively. There was significant difference between two groups. (P<0.05).4.The expression of HMGA2 in pituitary adenomas subsets were GH 14.29% PRL77.78%, GH/PRL 14.29%, ACTH 71.43%, FSH/LH 57.14%, TSH 0%, NULL70%, respectively. There was significant difference among them. (P<0.05).Components compared, the expression of HMGA2 was significantly higher in PRL,ACTH, FSH/LH and NFPAs than others. (P<0.05)Conclusions:1.There were high expression level of HMGA2 in PAs. Especially in invasive PAs or pituitary macroadenomas. So we can think that HMGA2 can serve as a biological marker of invasive PAs or tunor size.2. The expression of HMGA2 in pituitary adenomas subsets and relates to tumor histologic type,HMGA2 could be a PAs pathology index for diagnosis in the future.3.Further research on the HMGA2 in PAs would provide the theoretical basis for biological treatment of PAs.
