Acupoint Catgut Embedding On Heroin Dependent Male Rat Spermatogenesis Experimental Study

Objective: To observe the inflluence of acupoint catgut embedding on serum testosterone levels, testicular organ coefficient, sperm density, sperm motility effects on heroin dependent male rat.Methods: Healthy, 2-month-old sexually mature ,40male rats were randomly divided into four groups:model group, the methadone group, catgut embedding group, acupuncture group.To copy rat model of heroin dependence with fixed rate and progressive program. After the end of copy of heroin dependence model ,each group fed with normal saline irrigation, methadone oral solution, catgut implantation at acupoint, acupuncture and other methods of intervention,to continuous intervenen 28 days. Behind 24h of the end of interventions, each group were execute ,to compare the serum levels of testosterone, testicular organ coefficient, epididymal sperm density and sperm motility.Results: In the process of withdrawal,the methadone group's male serum testosterone levels, testicular organ coefficient, sperm density, sperm motility were lower than acupoint catgut implantation's and acupuncture's (p<0.05). acupoint catgut implantation's and acupuncture's sperm density, sperm motility were higher than model group's (p<0.05). Acupoint catgut implantation and acupuncture could promote serum testosterone levels, testicular organ coefficient, sperm density, sperm motility effects on heroin dependent male rat. Acupoint catgut implantation's serum testosterone levels, testicular organ coefficient, sperm density, sperm motility were higher than and acupuncture's, but it was not statistically significant (p>0.05).Conclusion: catgut implantation at acupoint can help enhance the heroin dependent male rat serum testosterone levels, testicular organ coefficient, sperm density, sperm motility.
