Objective:To observe the clinical effect and mechanization of Knee Osteoarthritis of Blood Stasis Type by Warming Acupuncture.Methods:(1) Objects of observation:66 cases in total from Fujian Medical University Second Affiliated Hospital from December 2008 to December 2009. We choose the objects of observation in accordance with the diagnosing criteria of knee osteoarthritis recommended by American Rheumatism Association in 2001, and blood stasis diagnostic criteria by the New Chinese medicine treatment of bone and joint disease in the clinical research guidelines. These patients are 32 males and 34 females between the age of 50 to 75, and their average age is 60.03. (2) Case group:66 randomly assigned patients were divided into treatment group (warm needle) with 34 cases, and the control group (IF) with 32 cases. (3) Operation methods:In the treatment group with the main focus point outside the knee, accompanied by Xue Hai, Liang Qiu, using warm needle treatment; the control group was treated by IF. The duration of each treatment group is about 30min per day, and there are 15 days for a course of treatment each with a 3 days'break. The continuous treatment is processed for 3 courses. (4) Detection of indicators:the clinical symptom score of the two groups before and after treatment; Clinical efficacy and synovial fluid MMP-3, IL-1, TNF-αcontent. (5) Data processing:The SPSS13.0 for statistical analysis.Results:(1) KOA clinical symptom score decreased in both the treatment group and the control group, and there is a significant difference (P<0.05). According to theΔpoints, treatment group is better than the control group. (2) The effective rates of the treatment group and the control group was 90.00% and 73.33% respectively. There was a significant difference (P<0.05); (3) As for MMP-3 levels, the two groups before treatment and after the synovial fluid of patients both can decrease KOA MMP-3, Statistical analysis showed that there was a significant difference (P<0.05). FromΔMMP-3 levels, we can find the treatment group is better than the control group; As regard to IL-1 levels, the two groups before treatment and after the synovial fluid of patients both can decrease KOA IL-1. Statistical analysis showed that there was a significant difference (P<0.05). fromΔIL-1 levels, it is seen that treatment group is better than the control group; TNF-αlevel in two groups before treatment and after the synovial fluid of patients can decrease KOA TNF-α, Statistical analysis showed that:There was a significant difference (P<0.05). According toΔTNF-α levels, treatment group is better than the control group.Conclusions:(1) Warming acupuncture can significantly ease clinical symptoms and signs of blood stasis type of knee osteoarthritis. The effective rate of this treatment to Knee Osteoarthritis is 90.00%. (2)Warming acupuncture can considerably reduce the synovial fluid MMP-3, IL-1, TNF-α. This may be the reason why warming acupuncture is helpful in treating patients with signs of blood stasis type of knee osteoarthritis.
