Curse words are part of a certain culture and because of its taboo feature, the curse words are barely discussed. Accordingly, there are few written materials on this area. As a result, there are fewer discussions on translation of curse words for sure. Given this situation, this paper will start with the discussion about curse word culture and then go further to the translation study from a cultural aspect, including the discussion on reasons for translators'choices and the impact of those choices. Besides, the writer hopes this discussion will be of some help for readers to understand Chinese and foreign cultures and the role of culture in the process of translation.Chapter One will introduce the curse word culture studies and the purpose of the paper; Chapter Two will classify the English curse words and Chinese ones and compare them, then the writer introduces the problems occurring in the translation of some curse words because of cultural differences and the translation study thus must be conducted from a cultural aspect; Chapter Three will do case study to see how translators dealt with the translating process of curse words; Conclusion will be given in the final chapter, stressing the role of culture in the process of translation.
