Again, as a new way of teaching, its importance has been gaining increasing attention.Because of the marked increase in college enrollment and the relatively limited teaching resources, the Ministry of Education issued College English Curriculum Requirements in 2004, strongly suggested colleges and universities enhancing their English teaching efficiency and cultivating the students'ability in foreign language communication by making full use of multimedia and internet technology.Based on constructivist theory the paper attempts to find out existing problems in the application of multimedia into English teaching in Ocean University of China (OUC) with the aim of finding out where the problems lie in and thus giving some helpful suggestions for their solutions. This paper adopts questionnaire as main researching means to investigate the causes of problems existing in the multimedia English teaching process of OUC. Through the study, the writer finds out there are some poignant problems and limitations in student-centered, active construction teaching ways, as well as the assessment and reflection concerned, which in some degrees limits the expected teaching efficiency. The writer, based on the constructive theory, analyzes and explores the possible causes involved and puts forwards some suggestions for the optimization of multimedia college English teaching.
