Mo-tse is a great thinker in the spring and autumn and warring states periods of China. Mo-tse developed his Non-music idea by the harsh reality that the people were trodden under the aristocratic class. The noblemen indulged in their extravagant life by depriving the people's living right.As the most important part of Chinese traditional ideology, Mohism and Confucianism have the similar ideological source, both centers on human beings and share the common historical background. The Chinese humanism is a spirit of people-oriented, which finally become the basis of traditional Chinese culture and spirit of the ethical. Mohist thinking mainly embodied in the spirit of non-offensive, thrifty and salvation, which are all based on spirit of Universal love. The principle of Mo-tse's Non-music is Thrifty. The core value is Universal Love. His great idea is derived from his deep love of the people .Most academics hold relatively negative attitude to Mo-tse Non-music thinking. They considered that although Mo-tse's Non-music theory expressed the cruelty of the ruling class, Mo-tse was still comfined to his class limitations. Mo-tse's music idea is unique in the music aesthetics history of China. We can not simply tell whether it is good or bad. We could develop a new understanding of Mo-tse's music idea by putting it into a specific historical context, combining it with the artistic spirit of traditional Chinese culture and associating it with other ancient music idea. To redefine its important historical influence of Mo-tse's music idea make it possible that to get a clear understanding of full history of Chinese music aesthetics.
