In the hot college English instruction reform research current, researchers'focus recently switched onto students'subjectivity. Students'status in teaching and learning course was gaining on weight. More and more researchers argued that English teachers should change their thought pattern, shifting from the teacher-centered general language knowledge and skill teaching to the student-centered self-access learning pattern, improving students'language application capacity at the same time. As to different patterns of self-access learning, cooperative learning's advantages were acknowledged by more and more popular researchers.Cooperative learning as a teaching and learning strategy is based on the team management theory, which holds that group members'joint efforts can produce positive synergetic effects so that their collective performance level far exceeds the totality of their individual performance level. Furthermore, a team gives its member cohesion power and sense of belonging. Accordingly cooperative learning has the following properties:learning group is the basic organization unit; teachers and6 students coordinate and integrate their efforts in fulfilling their common tasks; the award criterion is the group's collective performance. This present research applied the concepts of team management and cooperative learning into real college English instruction, in which experimental classes were set up, systematic process management were carried out, data from students' questionnaires, teachers'notes and examination papers were collected and analyzed. Analyses exposed that in cooperative learning students'subjectivity was put into full play and their leading role was realized:students'helping, assistance and cooperative awareness were well trained and remarkably improved; their teamwork spirit and cooperative skills were dramatically trained and improved; teachers'assistant role and the interactive classroom context between teacher and students as well as among students.
