Cooperative Learning Spoken English Teaching In Higher Vocational Applied Research

Cooperative learning has gained great development since it was introduced to China in the 90th. The thesis mainly discusses how cooperative learning influences spoken English teaching of Higher Vocational College and aims to explore the effectiveness of the implement of Team Learning in spoken English class of Higher Vocational College, i.e. Whether Team Learning can promote spoken English learning of team members, improve relationship between each other and enhance the ability of communication and cooperation.The English achievements of students in Higher Vocational College are not good enough. Their spoken English and communicative abilities are relatively weak. Most students in Higher Vocational College can't speak English fluently. Besides spoken English teaching is ignored, the most important reason is that teaching methods are out of place. However, many teaching practices prove that cooperative learning can improve teaching situation and effectiveness greatly. Cooperative learning is dividing the students into heterogeneous groups of 2-6, making the students cooperate in groups to achieve the collective aim and judging the groups according to the total achievements.By consulting library collection, making class observation, doing experiments in three classes of Wuxi teachers' college, distributing questionnaires and interviewing some students, collecting and analyzing the data, we find that team Learning in spoken English class of Higher Vocational College can greatly help promote students' spoken English learning, and to some extent, improve relationship between each other and enhance their ability of communication and cooperation. After the experiment, through comparing the learning achievements of experimental class and the controlled class and analyzing the interview and classroom observation, it is proved that cooperative learning can improve students' spoken English achievements and release their anxiety. Based on analysis of the research result, we sum up some effective strategies of Team Learning, in order to activate students' interest in English, improve students'autonomous learning, cooperative awareness and abilities so as to promote the English teaching and of Vocational learning quality Higher College.
