Since 2008 Olympic games in Beijing made the charms of traditional culture and art go the distance, Chinoiserie become very popular around the world nowadays. Traditional costume culture, as a branch of traditional culture and art, contain material civilization and ethical civilization which were created in the long historical process of practice, are inspirations of modern fashion design. But the integration with the global economy making the costume culture exchanges more frequent. To Chinoiserie fashion clothes, keeping the national characters and integrating into the world trends are the key to victory in the world fashion. With the study of Chinoiserie fashion clothes, we could take the shape and structure of traditional costumes as the breakthrough point to fashion design application of traditional elements.On the basis of talking about the history of Chinoiserie, the paper made a new definition of Chinoiserie, and classify the modes of expression into four categories: integral type, partial type, fancy type, mixmatch type. By discussing about the characteristics and current situation of Chinese Costume, to make a summary of the interconnections and the differences between Chinese Costume and Chinoiserie fashion clothes. Then making an analysis of current situation of Chinoiserie fashion clothes market by a net questionnaire survey. Chinoiserie fashion clothes if only have fancy lookings, however, lacking of cultural connotation, could not develop with a steady pace in the market for a long time. So this paper based on the two categories of the shape and structure of traditional costume, elaborating the characteristics formed under the influence of political factors, functionality and moral outlook. Moreover, taking the great changes in the structure of costumes in modern China as emphasis to analyze and study the design methods used by modern fashion designers who learned from western costumes, also the Chinoiserie fashion clothes design could get inspiration from it. By cognition and analysis of the application in modelling and matching the the shape and structure of traditional costume, and by means of design practices I sum up six design methods: graft and transplant, replace and recovery, deconstrution and recombination, extravagant and distortion, addition and subtraction, derivation and sense. By designing the uniforms for the attendants of Guohe Holiday Hotel in Shengpu town, could reflect the Jiangnan watery town's costume characteristics, so we can put the theories to the tests of practice.
