National Dress Elements Fashion Design Application

China is a country with long history, the different lifestyles of the different nations cultivated their own unique culture which had given birth to the distinctive national dresses. However, most national dress styles have complex shapes, numerous decorations, these highly decorative and aesthetic styles can't keep pace with our simple and efficient modern life and lack the popularity due to the psychological needs of the public seeking for the similarity. Viewed from a different angle, their rich and brilliant colors, unique-style models, meaningful and far-reaching dress patterns, exquisite weaving modes, embroidery, dyeing and other techniques provide the major source of the inspiration for modern fashion designer to build various creative designs. It is never overestimated that the national dresses imbued with a profound culture and versatile design elements are the Chinese fashion designers'asset which can help them stand in the frontier of world fashion design in the era of the modern globalization.Only relying on the Chinese national dresses, can the Chinese fashion highlight the unique style and national character of China; only combining with the spirit of the modern fashion, can the national dresses gain better inheritance and development in the river of new era..Therefore, this thesis take the southwest Tujia national derss as the research object, take Mis Liang's fashion works about the elements of Tujia traditional dress as a case,exploring how to combine the elements of national dresses with the spirit of modern fashion in fashion design in the context of fashion globalization, and how to apply the excellent traditional forms to the modern fashion styles which can reflect the nation rhyme and rebuild the characteristics of Chinese fashion styles.The structure of this thesis is arranged in three parts as follows:1. Summarizing the elements of national dress in modern fashion design application status.2. Summarizing the general characteristics of tujia traditional dresses in southwest of china.3. Analysis the famous fashion designer Liang Mingyu's design works about tujia national dress.
