"Desire" is the most moving theme of Duras' works. Duras' life is the life of desire, from youth's rebellious desire to modern love when grow up, from first love with a son of a wealthy businessman from China to the frightening crazy love in old age, from life to literature, from literature to life, Duras fully obey the call of desire and creates the eternal myth of immortal love!Desire is the core content of theory of lacan. He describes the essence of desire from the production mechanism, ways of changing etc, divides the desire into three levels:the need level, demand level and desire level. Need,in the desire of surface, is the biological need of individual requirements and material comfort, demand is the need of love and belonging, which can be only partly satisfied because of the Intermediary of language, and desire is bullying exemplification of social others,whose desire is others'desire.This paper will use Duras's "The Lover" as the object, use the three Levels of desire theory of Lacan as the cut,combine Duras's own life experiences, feelings experiences and issues such as Identity anxiety, and Synthetically use the text reading, biographies criticism and identity politics, etc.to reveal the deep meaning and significance of the desire theme in the works of Duras.
