"A NEW ACCOUNT of TALES of THE SOCIETY" is the representitive of the novels describing people's word and behalves in wei-jin period. It is the symble of the maturity of classical Chinese novels which mainly describe the words and behalves of present people, and holds a vital position in the development of classical Chinese novels. Many professionals have stuied this work from the perspective of literature, original literature, aesthetics, history, linguistics, etc., in the past 1,500 years. This paper, based on the former research, tries to analyze this book from the perspective of literature. As we know, " A NEW ACCOUNT of TALES of THE SOCIETY " has quite special literatural value, and has achieved pretty high artistical comments. This paper tries to the creation of this novel, the characteristics of the style of the book, and the reason causing these characteristics. By doing this, a conclusion is gained that the creation of the novel and its system characteristics can represent the heritation and creative improvement of works before it, and what's more important, this book prompted the generation of the identical new type of Chinese novel:works recording the words of celebrities. This novel takes decribing peoples as its core point, and fomulated many extraordinary figures with different characters. According to that, this paper tries to analyze the exbiting approaches and language characteristics. Wei-jin period is the term that the classical Chinese literature perception and theory tend to become self-conscious and mature. This paper thus makes some discussion about this novel from the literature perspetive, aiming at studying the literatural theory and literatural attitude represented in this novel, after doing this, the deeply hided definition of "literature" and the relationship between language and learning is demonstrated, the important influence of "A NEW ACCOUNT of TALES of THE SOCIETY" to the various literatural creation forms is redefined too. Finally, after the works done described before, this paper put forward the idea that this book inspires the literature producing of the dynasty of tang, song, ming and qing from two perspectives, which are style & approaches, and topics & languages.
