The Reflections And Reconstruction Of Film Criticism Theory

An academic issue arouses controversy when some theory is mentioned again and again without reaching any consensus in the academic community. The discussion about film criticism theory just began in this way. In the process of criticizing films, we should treat western film theories from an objective view rather than refusing without consideration. Film criticism should begin with the film phenomena and film works, form which we realize and propose problems to discuss. Then on the basis of tentative resolving, we try to consider the theory resource in accord with creation rules unique to the work itself. Only in this way, we may creatively explain and criticize the film work.On this basis, this paper proposes the concept of "interpreting a text" and "experimental film criticism". The writer believes that the primary concern of film criticism is the profound, carful, and precise understanding of the film text, which is of great important to film criticism. Actually, many biased evaluation dues to the ignorance of interpreting text. At the same time, film criticism is not a purely rational process but built on the perceptual experience. As a result, how to treat film text, how to interpret the text, and how to understand and criticize the film on the basis of individual experience are the cores as well as the goals of film criticism.
