For almost a century, Communist Party of China has always attached great importance to the translation and the publication of Marxist-Leninist Works. And this task is regarded as the important part of the whole revolution. As we all know, the establishment of Communist Party of China was the process of applying Marxism-Leninism to the Chinese workers' movement. The Party is a working-class political Party armed with Marxism-Leninism since it was established. She has regarded Marxism-Leninism as her guiding ideology and has strived for achieving modernization and reaching communism. The spread of Marxism has the close relationship with Chinese revolutionary situation; The Party needed Marxism to guide in the process of revolution, so the translation of Marxist-Leninist works became an important task in China, and May 4th Movement was the initial phases of Marxist-Leninist works translated and published in China. May 4th Movement was actually the preparation period for establishment of Communist Party of China. During this period, Marxist-Leninist works had been widely spread in China, and this also raised a translation climax. So, for the period of May 4th Movement, the translation of Marxist-Leninist works had its special meaning. From this side of translation, it is clear that how the Party put Marxism-Leninism into practice and how the Party tackled the problems and won the victory of Chinese revolution. Today, Marxist-Leninist works still have important significance to Communist Party of China. The Party has always attached importance to the studying of theories. It is impossible for a political Party which guides a great revolutionary movement to get success if there is no revolutionary theory, no history knowledge, no deep understanding of the actual movement.With the modernism, and development of the socialism, in order to achieve the grand goal proposed by the central authorities, an important task is to further study the history of Marxism. People can have a clear understanding that which true of Marxism is they must insist on for a long time, which needed to be enriched and developed according to new practice and theories, and which doctrines must be eliminated.People did the research on Marxist-Leninist works only focused on one aspect during May 4th Movement. The author will do the research from macroscopic view. In chapter one, the author introduces background and significance of the translation of Marxist-Leninist works during the period of May 4th Movement. In chapter two, the author mainly introduces the literature review of domestic and international scholars on Marxist-Leninist works research during the period of May 4th Movement, for example, Li Bailing(李百玲),Ma Zuyi(马祖毅)etc. In chapter three, the author mainly discusses the translation and effects of Marxist-Leninist works during the period of May 4th Movement. In chapter four, the author discusses prospects of translating Marxist-Leninist works in the future. Chapter five is a conclusion.
