Study On The Modern Urban Sculptures In The Landscape Art Context

This paper studies the process of construction of the urban sculptures in China from the angle of environmental landscape art. Referring to the western experiences in urban sculpture progress, this paper tries to analyze the problems in the development of Chinese urban sculptures, and investigate the role of the urban sculptures in molding city landscape and how to scientifically handle the relationship between the above two, in the view of history, sociology, architecture, aesthetics and art, in hopes that providing referential options for urban sculpture construction.The main contents of this article include the following two aspects:First, based on the core role and the value embodiment of urban sculpture, the author summarizes several major features of them:integrity, relevance, stratified features and comparative property in the landscape art research language; the author elaborately analyzes the elements of fusion of urban sculptures with landscape art and the relation between these two.Second, the author brings the problems of urban sculptures nowadays to light, and puts forward suggestive solutions. On the basis of analysis of series of phenomena in the current urban sculpture constructions, this paper indicates the deficiency of global planning in the sculptures----not out of city integrity consideration, but rather as temporary and random ornaments. Plenty of sculptures out of harmony with environments are consequences of insufficient investigations into the surroundings. So, with it, this paper argues that the designers construct the urban sculptures from the angle of environmental landscape art, and make it the direction of future urban sculptures planning.In landscape art context, urban sculptures are important components of city planning and construction, as well as effective mediums for harmonious development in human's relationships with environment and with urban space. In the whole process of planning, designing and constructing the urban sculptures, it is of utter importance to bear sustainable development and harmonious existence with nature in mind.
