Along with the progressive of globalization, there is more and more international communication and cooperation. Foreigners can be seen everywhere in China. On campus, there are many foreigners, some of them are teachers and some are students. Campus notice is a kind of practical text used to inform school affairs within the school. All staff members and students get the information though reading the notices. Whereas, for many foreigners in China don't understand Chinese, and there is no correspondent English version of it, all of these situations cause the information could not be conveyed to foreigners in time and correctly.In order to solve this problem, the first thing we should do is to know the form and classification of notices at home and abroad. In this paper, both the Chinese notices and English memos can be divided into good-news, bad-news and neutral notices from the perspective of messages conveyed in notices. Then the Information Flow theory is applied to make the contrastive analysis of Chinese notices and English memos. All of this aims at finding the differences between them.This paper includes 5 parts. The first part is the introduction part, research background, objective, and methodology are introduced here; in the second part we mainly get to know the definitions and classifications of Chinese notices and English memos, a new classification of Chinese notices is also suggested in this part; part three talks about the. relevant theories involved in this paper, including information theory, Halliday's theme-rheme structure, given-new information structure, information flow theory and Functional Equivalence; the fourth part is the core part, the information arrangements of English good-news, bad-news and neutral memos should be obtained first, then contrastive analysis is applied to find out the differences; the fifth part is the conclusion part, it's not only make a conclusion of this paper, the limitations and further study recommendations are suggested.
