Neutral tone is a kind of special but common modulation in the Pronunciation of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. It not only plays an important role in conveying feelings, expressing meanings exactly and strengthening the musical characteristic of Chinese pronunciation. But also is one of the most important criterion to judge if one's Putonghua is up to standard. But the uncertainty of neutral tone and the lack of the language sense make neutral tone teaehing a difficult point in Putonghua teaching. This brings great difficulties to the learners and goes against the popularization of Putonghua.Although many Scholars do a lot of studies and discussion in definitions,aeoustic characters and tone pitch of the neutral tone,but the study on the theory of neutral tone is rather weak, and the explore on the principle and method of neutral tone is almost a piece of blank sheet. Besides, the lack of written mark and the the irregulation of the extent made the teaching of neutral tone a "bottleneek" in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.This paper attempts to count up the number of neuartl tone words and the formulation of the usual typical neutral tnoe in Putonghua,in order to analyze the number, category and the inner regularity of the neutral tnoe.This paper gives some suggestions on how to teach the words in neutral tone from the research of the textbook, the syllabus and the discussion of regular errors.1 hope the suggestions will be helpful.On the whole,the paper can divide to two parts.The first part compares the words in neutral tone in the fifth edition of Contemporary Chinese Dictionary with those in the third edition and analyzes the amendment. On this basis, formulating the Glossary of the Usual Typical Neutral Tnoe in Putonghua by deleting the unusual words.The second part is discussion on the principle and method of teaching neutral tone.This part compares three syllabus(HSK syllabus, Foreign Language Teaching Syllabus for Advanced Level and Foreign Language Teaching Syllabus for second Language Teaching Program)with the Glossary of the Usual Typical Neutral Tnoe in Putonghua.Explore the advantages and disadvantages of the three syllabus,in order to promote them to develop into perfection.And then, formulating the Glossary of the Usual Typical Neutral Tone in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. This part deals the Chinese teaehing practice and creatively propose the common and special principle from targeted survey. Finally,practical designs were made in the concrete application of methods and the implimentation of teaching principles in this paper,and combing the teaching theory with the practice,the examples enhanced the practical characteristic of this paper. In short,this paper comprehensively applied the related theories knowledge that made use of the teaching theory, linguisties and psychology.This paper explored creatively and detailedly the principles and methods of neutral tone teaching among the foreign students. Then there is an conclusion to summarize the article briefly.The formulation of Glossary of the Usual Typical Neutral Tnoe in Putonghua and Glossary of the Usual Typical Neutral Tone in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language are the research results of the paper.And I hope there will be more in-depth and improved research in this field in the immediate future.
