Compared with the ancient Chinese, polysyllabic words especially bysyllable words in modern Chinese increase in abundance, Through the change of voice, neutral-tone words can distinguish words, change the meaning of words and part of speech, etc, so that they play an important role in telling the words function. And the voice form of bisyllable neutral-tone words becomes one proof of the disyllabization in Chinese vocabulary.Bisyllable neutral-tone words are divided into two major categories: typical bisyllable neutral-tone words and borderline bisyllable neutral-tone words. The first category including neutral-tone words which can distinguish the meaning is the core part of bisyllable neutral-tone words. This thesis uses bisyllable neutral-tone words appearing both in the Modern Chinese (5th edition) Dictionary and the Dictionary of 8000 Chinese Words, taking lexics and morphology as the theoretical basis, and analyze from the perspectives of form, structure, meaning and usage, etc, so as to point out their type function, meaning function and grammar function.Based on the characteristic of second language learning, this thesis probes into the relation between the form and meaning of bisyllable neutral-tone words as well as analyzes on the grammatical errors of compound verbs of direction which are included in bi-syllable soft-sounded words and used as complex directional complement. Though this analysis, the author points out that the main reason for the error lies in aspects: on the one hand, the user are short of the knowledge about the type and stand-point of the grammar function; on the other hand, the author does not know the restriction on the words arrangement well. The thesis is significant for teaching vocabulary in second language acquisition.
