The"Nature"of Chinese Chan school is the fusion of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, and embodies many theoretical intension. First, buddhata is nature. Chinese Chan praises natural and free, and opposes authority, hypocrisy and trammel. Second, natural scenery shows buddhata. Chan emphasizes that it is in the intuitional sight for nature that awake to the truth of universe. Third, the natural state of life. Chinese Chan advocates that person and nature should mixes together, and pursues the natural and agreeable life. Final, natural enlightenment. Chinese Chan opposes the way of traditional practicing Buddhism, and advocates of the natural one.The aesthetic connotation of Nature of Chinese Chan embodies in the following aspects. In Chinese Chan, the natural scenery is the emblem of buddhata, so the intuitional sight for nature is consistent with attaining enlightenment. In the eyes of Buddhist, everything is natural, and no differentiation, no opposition, which is the character of esthetic. After had been broken thoroughly, original space-time feature is again made up by the"heart"freely, and forms new state, and gets new aesthetics intension.The"Nature"of Chinese Chan school has produced significant influence for Chinese ancient aesthetics idea. It agrees with the aesthetic mentality, reveals the dialectical relationship between aesthetic mentality and aesthetic imagination, and influences the relationship between emptiness and solidness in Chinese arts. Under its influence, the arts such as Chinese poem, drawing, penmanship and garden pursue the style of free and natural.
