New Perspections Of Du Pian Xin Shu

The late Ming dynasty is a period of desolateness and isolation of Chinese feudal society. From the royal elites to ordinary people, their values, and moral awareness are increasingly fallen, the whole society was filled with the atmosphere of decadence and deprivation. However, popular fiction is booming with strong momentum in this very period. One fiction named Du pian xin shu, which especially focused on the theme of cheating and other social problems in Wan Li Period had drawn our attention with its influence. This novel chooses popular tricks in that period of society as a starting point with the purpose of revealing the abnormal social metamorphosis, exposing people's moral bankruptcy under materialism. This article selects Du pian xin shu as the research object, with fully analysis of its literature and history value. It is believed that it enjoys a unique style in the novel history of late Ming dynasty by its one and only perspective view.Based on the previous study accomplishment, this article has a systematic review on its ideological content and artistic characteristics, so as to uncover the novel's special meaning and value. Article is divided into four chapters. The introduction part has explained Du pian xin shu's research status and significance of this research and methods. The first chapter has listed the different view that current academia holds about author's related info and novel's category positioning, putting forward writer's own opinion afterwards. The second chapter has a detailed discussion about the cheating tricks in the novel, redefine the tricks classification as for the fact that previously there are different standards for trick classification. Additionally, it has an introduction about the changes in the characters and trick situation of this novel. The third chapter, in narrative point of view, analysis novel's narrative art in the aspect of time, way and mode. The fourth chapter has an intense discussion about the historical significance of the novel in the longitudinal coordinates of historical development, which roughly explains the inheritance of previous works and influence on future works.
