A Study On Application Of Origami Element In Fashion Design

As the development of clothing industry, it's the time with crisis and opportunities for fashion design. Copy and imitation are difficult to survive in the severe market, and it also can't satisfy the consumers. A design element can be applied to one garment or several, however, the design element can't be extended and the ready-made clothing can't form clothing series. The products'value added depends on not only the original design but the design with logic and series finally, the way of which is unique.Origami elements as the point of penetration, the paper explored a set of methods on how design elements applied to fashion design for the ready-made design especially. First of all, the paper overviewed the concept of origami elements and classified them by the function, then analyzed the strength and possibility for application of clothing design. Secondly, summarized three emanative design methods under a lot of tests to take the advantage of origami elements, and explained with samples. During the process, the paper discussed the reasons and the rules of origami elements'application for ready-made clothing design, and put them into practice.Finally, the paper made a summary and analysis .Based on a lot of research and tests, the origami elements can design series clothing with logic by the means of emanative design to different part of clothing. At last, the paper built a web of"elements- originality-clothing"and contrived an emanative method of fashion design.
