Abstract:Chinese landscape painting is the depiction of nature to convey human especially Chinese's special affection towards nature, therefore, Chinese landscape painting is also named "the second nature". Mi's landscape painting, featuring its distinctive painting style lives to be an important part of Chinese landscape painting. The unique portraying skills of Mi's landscape painting remedy the realistic style and form of landscape painting skills in Song Dynasty. Mi Fei is the founder of Mi's landscape painting, what's more, Mi You Ren, Mi Fei's son, carries and completes Mi's Landscape Painting. Yu Shan and Ink Playing (a painting skill through ink playing to portray moutains) is the main idea conveyed by Mi's landscape painting. When it comes to the Yuan Dynasty, where the scholar's painting is popular, landscape is main subject depicted by painters; furthermore, the cultural and political environment of Yuan Dynasty is freer enough so that painters can choose their painting subject according to their preference. To add this, the back-to-the-ancients ideology putting forward by Zhao Mengfu has great influence on painters in Yuan dynasty. Many painters of Mi's landscape painting not just copy the skills of Mi's landscape painting but also develop their unique styles to complete Mi's landscape painting. Among these painters, Gao Kegong, Fang Congyi and so on are the representatives.
