Feng Jicai experienced a lot through his lifetime. He underwent the Cultural Revolution, in which his mind was tortured by the secular changes, so he had ever doubted the humanity. After deep reflection, Feng had depicted the different form of life at different degrees. Also Feng had visited many countries, and he had proposed some constructive suggestions on Chinese traditional culture with reference to the essence of foreignculture. he had made triple changes in his early career, from playing basketball to painting, then to writing. But he always insisted in the painting and writing through his whole life. All of those changes and hardships were implied in his prose. It was the rich life accumulation that made Feng's works more deeply and meaningful and lead the readers to digest what Feng told in his works more willingly, which also were the internal and external drives those made Feng continue to write prose. We can felt the responsibility that was shouldered by the Chinese intellectuals who seriously take care of nation's prosperity and difficulty. In the new times, he had witnessed and worried about the losses of the civil cultural heritage, the abandonment of ancient city and demerits of modern city. In Feng's prose, he could tell you many stories of the ancient Tianjin city in a deep emotion way which could arouse people to take care of the classical dwellings.This paper will elaborate on the artistic characteristics of Feng's prose from three aspects. All in all, this paper is to comprehensively elaborate Feng's artistic characteristics from the aspects of creative drives, work analysis, cultural perspectives, personality and writing skills and so on,then to form an estimate of his prose.
