Test anxiety occurs when one faces a test situation, and it is a psychological reaction characterized by worrying about the results of test and emotional tension and affected by one's cognition, assessment, disposition and characters. Test anxiety is a common mood disorder in middle school students. As a negative emotional reaction, test anxiety not only affects students' test scores, but also has a serious impact on the students' physical and psychological health development. At present, the situation of test anxiety in middle-school students is far from satisfactory, and the comprehensive study suggest that about 20-30% of the students have test anxiety. Owing to facing enormous tests pressure, test anxiety of students of grade 9 is more apparent and prominent.There are many factors that affect the test anxiety, and we can divide them into two aspects: the individual factors and the external environment factors. The individual factors include personality traits, self-perception, self-efficacy, personal expectations and study skills. The external environment includes families, schools and the society, especially the family environment plays an important role on the test anxiety of the middle school student.In order to investigate the test anxiety level of students of grade 9,87 students of QiXian middle school are employed to complete the Test Anxiety Scale. Through the survey we find that test anxiety generally exists in students. According to the school and students' actual conditions, we decide to counsel the students by group counseling which include establishing a rational cognition, improving learning strategies, developing a positive mental attitude and relaxation training.
