The Lexical Semantics Constraining Syntactic Realization Of Core Semantic Roles

The syntactic realization of semantic roles is constrained by lots of elements, of which lexical semantics is an important aspect. Lexical semantics determine the semantic roles which are mapped to syntactic elements. Thus, to some extent, lexical semantics constrain and decide the syntactic elements.Based on analyzing and concluding the existing research of relations among lexical semantics, semantic roles and syntactic elements, we take semantic roles as an outline centering on verbs of sentences and extract core words of indispensable argument chunks from the Tagged Corpus of Chinese Textbooks for Primary and Middle Schools which is well processed, on principles of keeping up with the development of natural language processing and conforming to the characteristics of Chinese so as to meet the needs of Chinese information processing. On the basis of tagging sense categories, semantic syntactic structures and other information, we built the Information Database for Lexical Semantics Constraining Syntactic Realization of Semantic Roles and also made a further study of this issue.There are five chapters in this paper, and the main contents are as following.The first chapter is an introduction. This chapter summarized the research situation of the function of Lexical Semantics in Syntactic Realization of Semantic Roles .According to the present study of Semantic Roles'automatic annotation, the formal features have been refined to a significant extent and the introduction of Lexical Semantics has been an aspect of people's consideration. This chapter also points out the purpose, methods, innovation and the significance of this research.Chapter two, three and four are the main parts of this paper.In chapter two, it refers to the construction of Information Database for Lexical Semantics Constraining Syntactic Realization of Semantic Roles. Firstly, Information Corpus for Tagging Illustrative Sentence was created on the base of Tagged Corpus of Chinese Textbooks for Primary and Middle Schools. Then, we built Information Database for Lexical Semantics Constraining Syntactic Realization of Semantic Roles, using the relevant information which is extracted by Matlab design program.Chapter three discusses the lexical semantics constraining syntactic realization of core semantic roles. Firstly, Semantic Roles is divided into core Semantic Roles and non-core Semantic Roles. The Core Semantic Roles includes agent, patient, theme, partner, objective, relative, possessor, dative, result, effect, ofpart, and so on, this is the key point of this paper. And then we discuss the Lexical Semantics Constraining Syntactic Realization on theme, possessor, and partner. Among them the mapping from semantic roles to syntactic element, the projecting from lexical semantic to lexical and the Lexical Semantics Constraining Syntactic Realization of Core Semantic Role's characteristics are through the whole paper.Chapter four aims at lexical semantics constraining syntactic realization of objective semantic roles. Objective is the objective things which are related to or changed by subject of events, it includes patient,objective, dative, result, effect, relative, ofpart and so on. In this chapter, the last six categories will be studied further from three aspects: the mapping from semantic roles to syntactic element, the projecting from lexical semantics to lexical and constraining characteristics.Chapter five is the value of this research. This chapter introduces the significance of this research from ontology and application and puts forward the prospect of the further study. The innovation of the thesis lies in:With an eye to the needs of NLP, The study of syntax-semantics interface problems from the aspect of lexical semantics will be theoretical researches and practical explorations, which will support Chinese information processing with an available knowledge database and offer training and testing corpus to the large-scale semantic roles'automatic annotation.
