Academic contingencies of self-worth is a domain or a extent to which one'sself-worth is based on academic, It reflects the effect of academic events on theindividual's self-worth. This study will be specific to the academic field, and test part ofassumptions in the contingencies of self-worth theory, and we hope our study canprovide some complement for correlation research. Moreover, through the study, Wecan understand the academic values of contemporary youth and their self-worth, it alsocan provide some theoretical basis for the education .This research based on the literature reviewing, interview, questionnaire andexpert's demonstration, and we had a preliminary discussion on the adolescent academiccontingencies of self-worth theory. Firstly, previous research were reviewed, anddiscussed the structure of adolescent academic contingencies of self-worth. Secondly,open-ended questionnaire responses were used to identify important contributors to theadolescent academic contingencies of self-worth. Together with experts'opinion andresearch works in this field, a preliminary questionnaire were developed. After deletingsome items according to psychometric properties, exploratory factor analysis indicatedthe dimensions of academic contingencies of self-worth, the self-made questionnairehas good reliability and validity. Lastly, we test part of assumption of the contingenciesof self-worth model in Crocker's study, the result are as follows:(1)Academic contingencies of self-worth is a multidimensional psychologicalstructure, it composed of three dimensionalities: academic ability,academic attitude andacademic achievements.(2)The self-made questionaire has good reliability and validity.(3)Generally, the level of adolescent academic contingencies of self-worth isover the average scores. And it has significant differences in genders, girls are higherthan boys significantly.(4)Academic contingencies of self-worth didn't have significant moderating effect of academic performance on global self-worth.(5)According to study of relation,there are positive correlation significantly onacademic contingencies of self-worth and self-protection strategies.(6)As a multidimensional psychological structure, different dimensions ofacademic contingencies of self-worth has defferent impact to the Academic behavior.Rrgression analysis showed academic attitude contingencies of self-worth couldsignificantly predict academic effort.
