Lexis Study of special books is the basis of Chinese lexicology study. Noun is an important part of Chinese lexicon. Compared with other word classes, noun is more connected with human's social life and phenomena. Therefore, Noun Study of aspecial book keeps hot in the field of Chinese lexicology study. Shi Yi Ji is a ghost story in the Wei and Jin Dynasties, which involves historical event and various literary quotations from Emperor Xi and Yan to Western Jin, and records many view sights and strange things and stories. It is regarded as a masterpiece of ghost stories in the Wei and Jin Dynasties, which play a vital role in literary history. The nouns used in the book possess a relatively large percentage with the quantity and diversification. To a certain extent, nouns in the book have reflected the development of ancient Chinese lexicon. Therefore, our study on nouns in Shi Yi Ji is necessary and valuable.This thesis, based on the version that collated by Qi Zhiping(Published by ZhongHua Book Company, 1981), classifies all the nouns uses in Shi Yi Ji, and further analyzes these nouns in terms of meaning, grammar and culture. The thesis consists of the following parts:Chapter 1 is introduction. It briefly introduces Shi Yi Ji and its author, literary review and limitation, the study methods we are going to use, and at last, the purpose and significance of our study.Chapter 2 is summary of nouns in Shi Yi Ji. At first, we give the standard and definition of the nouns and then explain the classification of nouns, which contains concrete noun, abstract noun, proper noun, and noun of time and direction. Every classification is made up of many subordinate groups. It helps us to see that noun can describe various things.Chapter 3 is the new nouns and borrowed nouns in Shi Yi Ji. It mainly analyzes how the new nouns come into being. Through such analysis, we can see disyllabic word mostly come from grammatical word-building, not the same as phonetic method in ancient times. Meanwhile, it also has a simple analysis of the borrowed nouns in the book.Chapter 4 is nouns in Shi Yi Ji and Taoist Culture. Because the author is Taoist priest, the book involves a number of nouns about Taoist Culture. Thus, connected with the history of Chinese Taoism, this thesis will systematically describe the Taoist development in the Wei and Jin Dynasties, and its basic belief and construction of that time.
