Research On Vocabulary Of Baotou Dialect

Baotou, which located in the south of Inner Mongolian plateau, is the largest city of Inner Mongolian Midwest. Baotou dialect, which belongs to Datong Baotou area of Jin dialect, has close relation with Jin dialect. But it is different from Jin dialect, as a result, shows its own characteristics.Vocabulary of Baotou dialect has its own characteristics, which mainly displays in sound-dinded words, reduplication form, addition form, four-character structure.The systematic research work on lexical phenomenon of Baotou dialect has not been done before. Therefore, it is the purpose of this paper to offer a detailed analysis and research on vocabulary of Baotou dialect.This paper contains two parts:main text and appendix.The main text contains six chapters. The first two chapters are exordium and a summary of humanity history and dialect of Baotou. The last chapter is epilogue. The emphasis of this paper is put on chapter three to five.Chapter one, the exordium, mainly introduces research status, purpose and significance of this study, research breakthrough point and main contents, study theoretical basis and research method of this topic. And it also introduces corpus source of this research and person participated in dialect investigation.Chapter two mainly introduces historical evolution, the situation of population and geography of Baotou city. And the situation of Baotou dialect and the basic characteristics of its vocabulary are also introduced in this part.The emphasis of this paper is put on the third chapter. In this part the wordbuilding characteristics of Baotou dialect vocabulary is emphatically discussed. This chapter analyzes and investigates sound-dinded words, reduplication form, addition form, four-character structure of Baotou dialect. Then it analyzes the main wordbuilding of Baotou dialect and its effect upon meaning of words, part of speech and semantics of Baotou dialect.Mongolian loanwords which is a characteristic of Baotou dialect are studied in the forth chapter. And the meaning of Mongolian loanwords is analyzed deeply.Based on the third and forth chapter, the differences between vocabulary of Baotou dialect and mandarin are found by comparing in the fifth chapter. Then the differences in syllable, wordbuilding, meaning of words and source are compared and analyzed.Chapter six is epilogue, in which some conclusions are found by the analysis of first five chapters. And the full text is summarized simply in this part.Appendix is subject to "Words Table of Chinese Dialect Investigation"(Dialect, 2003.1)compiled by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Language Institute Dialect Group, and consults "Vocabulary Handbook of Chinese Dialect Investigation"(Dialect, 1989.2)compiled by Dingshengshu. Author eventually finishes "Systematic Vocabulary Table of Baotou Dialect" by investigating, collecting, recording and arranging. "Chinese Dialect of Inner Mongolian West Dictionary"(Hasen; Shengli, Inner Mongolian Education Press,1999) and "Chinese Dialect Dictionary"(Xubaohua; Miyata Ichiro, Zhonghua Publishing House,1999) are consulted in compiling the table.
